Victober & Spooktober TBR | October Reads


But yeah, October is going to be a busy busy month for me as I will be participating in the following challenges:

  • Victober
  • Spooktober
  • Inktober

And then there’s my online class, work and life. @_@ I love myself.

So here’s the rundown of the challenges in case they sound interesting to you!!

Victober is basically a challenge where you read any kind of literature published during the Victorian era (1837-1901). This was created by Books and Things over on YouTube, as well as a slew of hosts whose links I will leave down below!

There are challenges for this but you’re by no means forced to follow them, you can pick and choose if you want to do some or all or non at all!

Yamini’s challenge: read a Victorian gothic novel
Agne’s challenge: read a Victorian book by a female author
Alysia: read a Victorian novel where a plot is afoot
Kate’s challenge: read a Victorian novel within a week
Kate L.’s challenge: read a Victorian book that is not a novel

Then there’s the SPOOKTOBER challenge which is, I’m sure you guessed… a SPOOKY READS CHALLENGE! This was introduced by the Paper Faerie on YouTube, here is her Spooktober announcement, along with the other respective hosts for the challenge below!

Here are the challenges for this:

1. Read the Group Book. (The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson)
2. Read a book featuring your favorite Halloween creature. (examples: Vampires, Ghosts, Witches etc.)
3. Read a book with fall colors on the cover.
4. Read a book by an iconic horror author of your choice. (examples: Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P Lovecraft, etc.)
5. Read a scary book and watch the movie adaptation.
6. Read a scary graphic novel.
7. Read a book with a spooky setting. (examples: haunted house, creepy forest, salem witch trials, etc.)

And of course, Inktober is an art challenge where you draw everyday for the month of October in any kind of ink-ish medium and then some. Here’s the website if you’re curious or interested to know more: Inktober
